I had a clear goal when editing Superman III, rid the film of a majority of its poor jokes, maintain seriousness, and most importantly, restore verisimilitude. I couldn't just completely remove comedy from the film because there'd be no movie left. I had to find the perfect level of comedic elements and seriousness in order to balance to film into, what I believe to be, a better finished product.
